My practice is about powerful transformations through art.
I provide psychodynamic counselling and expressive therapy to people individually and in small groups. That might be your family encountering a challenge or a community group who have themes and issues in common.
We use a range of creative mediums to discover our unique mode of self expression, and a language to explore personal issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, gender, sexuality, separation, trauma and negative patterns.
I anchor my creative counselling practice in my background as an applied artist (Bachelor of Performance Theatre Theory and Practice WSU 2004) empowering communities to strengthen their voice and tell their story. My current approach (Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy, College of Complementary Medicine 2021 and Diploma in Counselling IKON 2020) steps into this open space of imagination and through artmaking and talk therapy connects with personal invention and re-invention.
The Transpersonal approach explores the terrain with a broad client centred aspect. It may incorporate the spiritual, intergenerational, embodied and symbolic, or whatever you bring to the process. It adds to the conventional biopsychosocial model of mental health, a layer of non judgemental exploration through art. You are an amazing landscape with some lesser travelled roads and uncharted territories. It’s exciting, transformative and healing.
The mediums we work with lean towards visual art but movement, dance, sound and music might be just the right key to unlock something amazing in you. I facilitate a range of inspiring programs for everyday artists, like you. You’re invited to transform in new and innovative ways to propel long lasting positive change in your life.
